The Thanksgiving packet is for all L1-L4 teaching. Every year, I use part of it for all my classes. Review the previous level and learn the material for the new level.

This lesson is designed for level 2, novice-mid level. It would work for teaching middle school, high school, and adult students who have just learned Mandarin for about a year. Students learned seasons, weather, and basic verbs. Follow CI methods, and make sure that everything is comprehensible. Stay in the Target Language (Chinese) possibly all the time. Sometime in the second semester of level 1 (4 months in), I started to introduce 4-character-idioms. Those are embedded in the units, and related to the language or culture themes. Students love to learn them. They receive praise from native speakers and feel proud and smart to use more sophisticated language. I teach them and encourage students to use them in their everyday conversations. "一年之计在于春” is taught in the season and weather chapter, reviewed in 复活节 theme, or the other way around.
